It is with heavy hearts the family of Sarah Bogardus Haynes, 34, resident of Kernersville, NC, went to be with her Lord on April 23, 2024 after a short battle with breast cancer.  She is survived by her husband David Haynes and their two children, Daniel (3)and Anna Haynes (1) of Kernersville, NC along with her mother, Helga Bogardus of Holly Springs, NC, siblings Elizabeth Bogardus (Chris Stevens) of Frederick, MD, Abigail Hart (Jordan) of Greensboro, NC and Christopher Bogardus of Charlotte, NC, several nieces and nephews and her close SAI fraternity sisters.  She was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bob” Bogardus.

Sarah was born August 6, 1989 in Rochester, NY and moved to Holly Springs, NC in 1996. Born to a musical family, Sarah developed a love and talent for music early in life.  In 2007, she enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  Sarah received her Bachelor’s degree in Choral Music Education in 2011.  After several years of teaching in public schools, Sarah joined the faculty at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, NC where she was the Choral Director and Drama teacher.  Sarah directed the annual musical production and thoroughly enjoyed watching the students grow and perform. As a teacher, Sarah touched the lives of many.  She shared her passion for music and the arts by encouraging and uplifting her students every day.

Sarah was a strong believer in Christ and lived her faith through the kindness, understanding, and joy she shared with all she met. As a teacher at Wesleyan Christian Academy Sarah was able to share her faith with her students.  In her battle with cancer, Sarah fought with bravery and courage knowing that her salvation was assured.

Sarah will be missed immeasurably, but her light will continue to shine in the lives of her two children.  Sarah was a loving and caring mother and shared a deep and abiding love for her family.  From the beginning of their relationship she and David shared an unshakeable bond.  Sarah loved musicals, traveling, reading, playing piano, and spending time with close friends and family.
